Get Ice Off Your Kia Windshield In Seconds

3

Winter weather brings with it a host of issues that we are forced to live with when we live in a place with a colder climate.

Overnight winter storms that deliver power outages, and the cold and flu bug are just a couple of the issues that can make life unbearable for a few months.

If you live in a place that gets snow, then you are probably very familiar with the laborious chore of clearing snow and ice off sidewalks, driveways, and even your Kia car.

Scraping the ice off your Kia windshield is a must, as driving with an obstructed view is dangerous, not to mention illegal

Putting on the defroster and scraping the ice off the windshield is a pain, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

In most cases, you need to get out of bed a little earlier so that you will the extra time it takes to get rid of the snow and ice from your windshield, but we are here to tell you that there’s an easier way than the method you are using now.

Invest in a spray bottle and fill it with a mixture of 2 parts isopropyl alcohol with 1 part water.

Finish it off by adding 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap, and then shake the liquid vigorously.

Spray your concoction onto the frozen windshield and watch the ice start to melt almost immediately.

Rubbing alcohol is your friend during the winter months, and you can even leave it in the car overnight without fear of it freezing.

The reason it works so well on ice is because isopropyl alcohol has a freezing point of -128.2 degrees Fahrenheit.

That means it won’t freeze when it comes into contact with ice, and will in fact melt it, whilst not re-freezing after the fact.

A fine mist sprayed on the Kia windshield is all it takes to get the melting process started.

We have included a video here that shows exactly how this little trick works, so be sure to pass it along to anyone you know who doesn’t like the idea of going out in the cold to scrape ice off their windshield. (Source: inspireactachieve)

WHAT DOES RUBBING ALCOHOL DO FOR YOUR WAX & PAINT JOB? AS WELL AS ALL THE PLASTIC PARTS AROUND THE WINDSHIELD? FOR MY KIA SOUL, I JUST START THE CAR AND PUT THE HOT AIR BLASTING ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND REAR GLASS. IT TAKES MINUTES TO SOFTEN UP THE ICE SO I CAN WIPE IT OFF WITH MY MICHELIN SILICONE WATCHAMACALLIT THAT I USE WHEN THERE IS DEW ON THE GLASS IN THE SUMMER. I LOVE MY KIA SOUL SX. CANADA. I ONLY USE MEQUIRES WASH & WAX CAR SOAP ON MY BABY.

Yeah, I just turn on the defroster and fan on high and let it rip. I just get out and scrape the windows with my ice-scraper and it easily comes right off. I love my 2011 Kia Soul base white 5-speed.

Around my area, we would call that frost. Keep in mind, it’s a good idea to let the engine build heat before driving. Otherwise, there may be the potential for re-frosting or fogging. I’m a 2002 2 door 4wd Sportage owner from western Penn’a. And I hope Kia makes the next generation pickup truck a baby Unimog and brings it here.
