2014 Cadenza Road Test – Loaded With High Tech Safety Features

0

Kia’s plans for the future are starting now, beginning with taking a more adult approach to the car market with the release of premium vehicles such as the 2014 Kia Cadenza.

The Cadenza 4-door sedan is still a step below luxury, but it’s definitely an upgrade from the impressive Kia Optima mid-size sedan.

It represents the first glimpse into Kia’s plans for the future.

Here is what you can expect from the 2014 Kia Cadenza.

Kia Cadenza Review

The car gets a distinctly classy look thanks to the addition of chrome detailing on the exterior and the use of 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the car is very spacious, thanks to a longer length than the Optima.

The leather used for the seats is both luxurious and of very high quality. Wood grain is used to add an even classier touch to the interior.

The ride is incredibly smooth and comfortable, with plenty of power delivered by the 3.3-liter direct-injected V6 engine.

It’s such a smooth ride you almost don’t even notice that you are going so fast, so keep an eye on the speedometer. The engine is mated to a standard automatic transmission.

Safety is once again a high priority in this Kia vehicle, with the Kia Cadenza coming with some great standard features such as airbags, traction control, electronic stability control and vehicle stability management, to name just a few.

One of the cooler features of the car is the rain-sensing wipers that turn on as soon as rain is detected.

There is no need to make a technology choice with the Cadenza, as it comes with both the UVO eServices system and Navigation.

Both have the ability to be voice controlled, with UVO offering invaluable services that include 911 Connect; enhanced Roadside Assist; Automatic, Manual and Scheduled Diagnostics; vehicle maintenance –many of which are run through the owner’s Smartphone equipped with the UVO eServices app.

The great news is that all of these applications are free to use. An 8-inch screen on the center console can be used for both UVO and navigation, as well as for viewing the backup camera.

Some of the other technologies that come standard include dual-zone climate control, smart key, push-to-start, as well as music options that include AM/FM/CD/MP3/Bluetooth/Satellite and of course Bluetooth audio streaming from your phone or other wireless device.

You can get even more by going with one of the optional packages. The tech package comes with smart cruise control, blind spot detection and a lane departure warning system.

These are all fantastic safety features that are a perfect complement to the standard safety features available with the Cadenza.

The luxury package comes with a panoramic roof with power sunshade, HID headlights, a ventilated driver’s seat and a power seat cushion extension on the driver’s seat.

The package also includes heated outboard rear seats, heated steering wheel, a power tilt and telescopic steering column, integrated memory system and a Supervision Meter Cluster with 7-inch cluster LCD.

Kia Cadenza 2014 MY Pricing

The vehicle has a base price of $35,100, with the additional packages coming in at $3,000 each.

That pricing means that you get an awful lot for the money is a good thing for a number of reasons.

The best of those may be that since Kia is not known for luxury, the price may be enough to make customers give it a try.

That would not be a bad decision for those looking to go a little more upscale in their vehicles choice.
