Mood Lighting System In 2022 Kia Soul Has 11 Colors

From the moment it hit the U.S. market nearly a decade ago, the Kia Soul became an instant hit.

Now entering its third generation, the boxy crossover remains as popular as ever, despite going through some changes for the 2022 model year.

While the now iconic boxy look remains in place, the fully-redesigned Soul crossover is more sculpted than ever, but it’s still a ride that the hip-hop hamsters would love.

The Soul family is getting a little larger for the new model year, while also getting some new powertrains and features. The Soul X-Line is a more rugged version of the crossover, while the Turbo is for those who like things on the sportier side.

The funky Kia boxy car has undergone changes inside and out, with the interior getting an all-new dashboard and some cool new hi-tech gadgets. These include the likes of wireless mobile phone charging, a 10.25-inch navigation display, and a killer Harmon Kardon audio system.

On top of all that, a new mood lighting system has been added to the mix, bringing even cooler factor to the interior of the Kia Soul.

What is the mood lighting system?

Music has played a large role in the success of the Soul crossover, with that particular component always being an important part of the marketing.

With an upgraded dashboard and interior, as well as that high-end sound system, Kia engineers are once again making music part of the driving experience.

Acoustic inspired elements have been added to the interior to grab the “emotional visualization of sound” through shapes, textures, and lighting. In terms of the latter, the new Soul features speaker lights that pulse in time to the music being played.

The new mood lighting system is essentially comprised of two elements. The first is a mood light that circles the Soul’s front door speakers, while the second is an awesome 3D pattern located in the upper section of the door panels.

Both elements display soft lighting in a variety of different colors, as well as going with the beat playing through the speakers.

There are 11 different colors and 6 mood effects available, the latter of which are known as Hey! Yo!, Traveling, Party Time, Midnight City, Romance and Cafe.

Mood lighting availability

If the mood lighting is a feature that appeals to you, then you’ll probably want to know which US-market Soul trim levels feature this cool new element.

According to the specs from Kia Motors America, the mood lighting system will only be available on the top of the range 2021 Soul Turbo model. Also, we see that it will not be available on the all-electric Soul EV.
